Rich's Local Weather Discussion:
9/07 - 8:38 AM: Having some serious computer problems. Updates will be brief until I can get them resolved. Meantime, nice day again today. Lots of clouds around this morning, then a break, then more later. Looks like a big chunk of this week is dry. Maybe some rain by Thursday? Have a nice Labor Day.
SYNOPSIS...
HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS NEW ENGLAND BRINGS DRY WEATHER FOR MUCH OF THIS
WEEK. A WEAK COLD FRONT MOVES SOUTH ACROSS OUR REGION TUESDAY NIGHT
INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. LOW PRESSURE APPROACHES FROM THE SOUTH NEXT
FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY...AND MAY BRING A DECENT RAINFALL.
From the NWS:
PLENTY OF HIGH CLOUDS ACROSS THE REGION WITH A FEW PATCHES OF LOWER
CLOUDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS. HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GULF OF MAINE
IS KEEPING US DRY...BUT THE UPPER FLOW FROM THE SOUTHWEST IS RIDING
ENOUGH MOISTURE OVER THE TOP OF THE HIGH TO BRING THE CIRRUS COVER.
WE EXPECT THESE HIGH CLOUDS TO THIN THIS MORNING...THEN THICKEN AGAIN
MID TO LATE AFTERNOON ESPECIALLY IN WESTERN MASS AND CT. THE REASON
FOR THE THICKENING IS A PUSH OF DEEPER HIGH LEVEL MOISTURE DEPICTED
BY THE GFS/RGEM/NAM.
GULF OF MAINE HIGH WILL RETAIN CONTROL OF THE SURFACE WEATHER WITH
DRY AIR...LIGHT WINDS...AND A SEABREEZE. TEMPS ALOFT ARE SIMILAR TO
YESTERDAY...WE WENT WITH SLIGHTLY MILDER MAX TEMPS WITH UPPER 60S
ALONG THE COAST AND MID 70S INLAND.

Regional Weather Discussion ...
UNDER CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES...TEMPERATURES WERE COOL THIS
MORNING WITH LOWS RANGING FROM 45 TO 55 DEGREES.
FAIR WEATHER HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE OUR WEATHER
THROUGH AT LEAST TUESDAY.
LABOR DAY WEEKEND WILL FINISH UNDER SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGH
TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S TO MID 70S. TONIGHT WILL BE CLEAR AND
COOL WITH LOWS IN THE 50S...AND TUESDAY WILL BE SUNNY WITH HIGHS IN
THE 70S.
LOOKING TO MID WEEK...HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE OVER
NEW ENGLAND...HOWEVER MOISTURE FROM A LOW PRESSURE AREA OFF THE
CAROLINA COAST COULD GRAZE OUR SOUTH COASTAL AREAS WEDNESDAY INTO
THURSDAY. HIGHS ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WILL RANGE FROM THE MID
60S ALONG THE EAST COAST TO MID 70S INLAND...WITH LOWS AT NIGHT IN
THE MID 40S TO MID 50S.
After exactly 2" of rain in Concord this past weekend, the state capital finishes 4th on the list of all time wettest summers (June through August).
1) 1897 20.49" 2) 1887 20.08" 3) 1872 19.33" 4) 2009 18.19" 5) 1915 17.92" These numbers are for Concord where records go back to 1870.
